What’s on my plate – Ramadhan Edition

Assalamualaikum and gooooooood evening, lovelies! It is currently 8.51PM here in Malaysia. I am so happy today. Guess what? It is already the month of Ramadhan where all Muslim need to fast from dawn to dusk.

So, in this opportunity, I would like to post about What’s On My Plate – Ramadhan Edition but as for this post, I would like to focus more on my Sahuur diet. Rewinding back my past life, I’m not practicing any healthy diet but as final exams are coming up, I wanted to have a pretty good meal to get me going for the whole day. I have such a big appetite but waking up early the morning to have rice is such a no-no for me.

By now, I know that everyone are familiar with overnight oatmeal. I know. I know. At this point, I get it that Malaysia experience culture lag from all of the being healthy and eat healthy thing but yet, I have been eating overnight oat for about a week now and I have been loving it. It just make my life more easier rather than standing in front of the pot cooking a meal.

So, moving on to my fav overnight oatmeal will be 2 recipes that I want to share.

No #1 is..
– oatmeal
– milk
– honey
– dates

No #2 is..
– oatmeal
– soy milk
– honey
– dried fruit

.. pop it in the refrigerator overnight and you will have an amazing, pack with nutrients and energy breakfast for tomorrow..

and that is it. So basically,I used the same portion for oatmeal and milk but as long as the milk can soak up your oats, than its good enough. Of course, you can subs honey with any natural sweetener but I just go with the good ol’ honey.

To all my Muslim readers, salam Ramadhan Al-Mubarak to everyone. Ramadhan is not only about fasting but also to create a new chapter in becoming a great muslim to Allah, to yourself and to others. Have a blast, and happy fasting.

P.S: I do not own any of the images. All images are from WeHeartIt

Chemical Free Week

Assalamualaikum and Happy Monday, my love!

Last week was a busy week because I’m setting my priority to focus more on Sport United Championship MSU 2016. I am SO SUNBURN!

as for this week, I started with my Chemical Free Week Routine. I’m not sure if this routine is acceptable within you people but this is what I usually do when I need or want to change my skin care product. Because of Malaysia have humid and hot weather that people become extremely careful with what they put on their skin.

The reason I do the Chemical Free Week routine is because I’m changing from Neutrogena Neutrals to Simple skin care product. I hope that this is helpful for you and to give you a bit of information if you have a combination and oily skin type like me.

I know that some people can’t accept eel in their stomach, not even on their taste bud but grill eel is just amaaaaazing! Not only taste good but eel have so many benefits that make me want to stuff ’em everyday. But, because Eel is not my food regime, I dare not to consume in large amount. My routine would be purchasing Roasted Eel Onigiri every Monday, as they say, a little goes a long way. This is the list of Eel benefits that makes you want to add into your diet!

  • Eel does not contain sugar, and is low in sodium and high in phosphorus.
  • It is very rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B12, D and E, which are necessary for the body’s general wellbeing.
  • Eels possess substances that are best for rejuvenating the body in summer.
  • The fish decreases cholesterol, lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of developing arthritis.
  • It promotes good eyesight, normal brain development and nervous system function.
  • Studies have shown that eels significantly reduce the chances of developing type-2 diabetes.
  • Since it is high in omega-3 content, high intake of eel can delay the development of diabetes in glucose intolerant individuals.
  • The fish helps in easing cardiovascular disease risk factors, like high triglyceride levels.
  • The skin, flesh and bones of an eel are capsulated in the powdered form, to make it more concentrated. This powdered form is consumed as an all-natural food supplement in Japan and some parts of Europe.
  • The powdered form is developed especially for elderly people who want to live with renewed strength, vitality and energy.
  • The Korean men consume eels as a good source of stamina

Okay, I know its a chemical free week but let’s cheat! I could stand 3 days without washing my face in Australia but trust me, the amount of sweat when you’re in Malaysia is undeniable. Wet wipes is a must of my everyday go-to product. For this routine, I will be using 2 wet wipes which is Guardian Wet Wipes in the scent of Apple Fresh and Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes.
Guardian Wet Wipes contains NO PARABEN & NO ALCOHOL, so, if you have access to Guardian, I do recommend this product for the benefits for you and your love ones. Moving on to Simple Kind to Skin Clean Facial Wipes– because this is an imported product, it is a bit pricy but also a must have.

I have consume Evening Prime Rose oil like for ages and it does help me with my menstrual and giving a bit of energy boost also helps clear my skin. The benefits are:

Evening primrose oil is the oil from the seed of the evening primrose plant. Evening primrose oil is used for skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It is also used for rheumatoid arthritis, weak bones (osteoporosis), Raynaud’s syndrome, multiple sclerosis (MS), Sjogren’s syndrome, cancer, high cholesterol, heart disease, a movement disorder in children called dyspraxia, leg pain due to blocked blood vessels (intermittent claudication), alcoholism, Alzheimer’s disease, andschizophrenia.

Some people use evening primrose oil for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); asthma;nerve damage related to diabetes; an itching disorder called neurodermatitis; hyperactivity in children and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); obesityand weight loss; whooping cough; and gastrointestinal disorders including ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease.

Women use evening primrose oil in pregnancy for preventing high blood pressure(pre-eclampsia), shortening labor, starting labor, and preventing late deliveries. Women also use evening primrose oil for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast pain, endometriosis, and symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes.

In foods, evening primrose oil is used as a dietary source of essential fatty acids.

In manufacturing, evening primrose oil is used in soaps and cosmetics.

In Britain, evening primrose oil used to be approved for treating eczema and breastpain. However, the Medicines Control Agency (MCA), the British equivalent of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), withdrew the licenses for evening primrose oil products marketed as prescription drug products for these uses. The licenses were withdrawn because the agency concluded that there is not enough evidence that they are effective. The manufacturer disagrees, but it hasn’t published studies yet to prove the effectiveness of evening primrose for these uses.

I know its hard for you to gulp a good H20 but trust me, your body will thank you later! I have been training my body to drink about 2.5 litre of plain water to flush out all the toxins. But drinking a lot of water will destroy you as much as not drinking enough water. So make sure you drink appropriate amount depending on your body weight.

The part when everybody say ‘Caffeine is not good’, yes I admit but how can I pass a great chocolaty taste in my latte. 1 cup of caffeine is equivalent to 3 cups of plain water for you to flush out all the unwanted caffeine in your body! So, make sure you drink enough water!

P/S: I love to have my coffee in that cup! urgh, its sooooo tempting.

I LOVE YOGURT! literally any yogurt or yogurt drink. Calpis is a cultured milk drink. i can say that it tasted like Yakult but in a bigger version. If there is one way to get me go for poopoo, this is the reason. The trick is to drink this half a bottle per night, so 1 bottle per 2 nights. Of course, you can see the result as fast as you wish but eventually.

I tried!  I TRY TO LOOK FOR ALMOND MILK OR ANY OTHER MILK BUT I failed. The only milk that I can find is this and among all other brand, Dutch Lady is one of the famous and trusted brand in Malaysia. I have 2 ways of using  this milk; one, is to wash my face with the milk and second, is to drink every morning and night. I don’t know if its acceptable to wash your face with milk but it works on me. Let me know what you think.

What’s on my plate

Assalamualaikum everyone! How’s on Monday so far? It’s currently 11PM in Malaysia and I’m ready for bed. It would be a good time for me to relax and spent my night sharing my thoughts with you.

When I was in Australia, I did the same post with what I eat for the day. Currently, I am so busy with events, studies and just being passionate with what I do that I have been skipping my meals, also not consuming enough H2O for several days.

Because I have a 10 minute window for today, I’d like to spent my money on food, probably not healthy but definitely will keep me going for the day.

Breakfast: Fried Rice & Mineral (RM5.20)

Though I find the fried rice is a bit oily and a bit little too spicy for breakfast but it was good. Its a fried rice with a mix vegetable, fish cake, eggs and green and red chilli for garnish.

Lunch: White Rice, Dorey sweet sour & Kangkung Belacan (RM 6.00)

Tesco have been my favourite place to enjoy my lunch. Not only they have lots of choices but I can consider it a bit cheaper than other stalls or restaurant.

Dorey fish fillet is cut up into bit size and cook with sweet and sour gravy. I find it its easy to digest for heavy meal. Since I have a short period break, I’d like to eat something that is easy and also easy digest to avoid any pain collect in my chest.

Even though I don’t eat vegetable but Kangkung Belacan is a must! Its vegetables cook with onion, anchovy, shrimp paste and bird’s eye chilli. The combination of salty and spicy complete the dish. It’s one of the famous dish for malay. If you tend to visit Malaysia soon, don’t forget to add Kangkung Belacan in your adventure list.

Dinner: Thai Fried Rice (RM7)

Probably by now you know that I loooove fried rice. I mean its a simple dish for anytime of the day. For RM7 which is a bit pricy, but it was worth the price. The combination of Thai flavour is just amazing and melts in your mouth. There is shrimp, fish cake, long beans, spicy chilli that cut into strips and lots and lots of rice. Amaaaaaaaazing!

Mother’s Day Gift

Assalamualaikum and Good day everyone! How is your Sunday so far?

I’d like to take this moment to wish Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers or mother-to-be. Mother’s Day have been a lovely celebration to all mother around the world. For the Queen of my life, thank you for being such a great mother and friend and someone who inspire me to be what I am today.

Way before Mother’s Day, I have been purchasing few product to try them on before turning them into a special Mother’s Day gift. All the product below are mine but I will purchase a new one(obviously) for my mother. I still have a another 2 more weeks before seeing my mother and 2 more weeks to prepare.

For a smooth skin, I purchased the Enchanteur Paris Mon Amie Light & Fresh  lotion. In Malaysia, you can purchas Enchanteur almost at any store. The one thing I like about this lotion is the light texture, quick obsorbent and such a wonderful scent to it. This lotion is a perfume lotion which is the combination of lotion and Mon Amie perfume. In term of scent, it is fresh and a bit of sweet and soft smell. Extra bit of this lotion is, when you sweat, the lotion stimulates and give out its fresh smell. In the mid day, I don’t have to worry about perfume or smelling bad because this lotion is such a life saver!

For a sweet scent, I pick Enchanteur Paris Mon Amie perfume. Mon Amie is define as My Friend. The Mon Amie Perfume is the combination of Fresh Citrus, Red Apple and Pink Peonies. I do not know what it mean but I can tell you that this perfume have such light, soft and refreshing scent. It will keep you stay captivating all day long!

For the sweet amazing lips, I’m going to give her a lipbalm by Mentholatum Sugarlips by Color, Brown Sugar formula. Recently, I posted a Lips Product Haul and  one of them is the Sugarlips lip balm. I know my mother is not into red bold lips, she need some kind of lip balm with a bit of color to moisturize her lips. This would be the best product for her amazing lips.

For the glowing skin gift is the Pobling Pore Sonic Cleanser. I have been using this a lot for almost a year now. Its amazing how this little bristle actually clean deeply into your pore. I always use it to wash off my make up and it really does the job. The best way to do is wet your face with water and facial cleanser, squirt (IS THAT EVEN A WORD TO USE??) a bit of your facial cleanser onto Pobling Pore Cleanser and run it on your face. 15 second per area; forehead & cheeks, 10 second per area; nose and chin and 5 second per area; lips and eye lid.

Using Pobling Pore Cleanser is a best way to remove make up and even waterproof mascara, so, there is no need to rip you eyelashes off!

And that is it for today post. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there and I hope that this post can and will inpire you to spend a bit for your lovely Mom. xx
